Not all Browsers are created equal. |

As an example, a recent customer who wanted dynamic content for his website decided
against cross-platform compatibility in favor of only Windows 95/NT compatibility. He felt
that the majority of his users were Windows based and he did not want to pay the increased
costs associated with developing in a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) like Pearl or C.
Since he had elected Windows only compatability, the decision was made to use ActiveX
Controls instead of Java Applets thereby making the website incompatible with browsers
that do not support ActiveX Controls. He felt: 1) ActiveX Controls would already be loaded
on his users Windows machines or could be safely downloaded automatically. 2) True native
compiled ActiveX Controls are much faster to initialize than pseudo-code compiled java
applets. We have provided a sample sniffer below for demonstration purposes. If you feel that
the returned results are incorrect, then please e-mail us so we may research the issue. Your browser is reporting back the following information: |
